Forno Buono is a new brand, launched in 2015. Sellers of garden pizza ovens and outdoor cookery items, I was approached to create the brand raft which would take Forno Buono to the top of their respective field. This of course meant a logo design and an eCommerce brand website design. The site interacts with the client’s inventory on the fly and hooks into their social networking platforms.
The brand needed to kick with a particular demographic. The client’s family is actually Italian so that gave me a great launchpad to get working. Targeting foodies, BBQ aficionados and showoffs, the brand espouses a southern, rural Italy vibe. Focusing on Southern Italy gave us our colour palette, our corporate stance and out mission statement. Everything was then created from the ground up. Label designs for the various accessories, new carton and packaging designs and even packing stickers for the pallets loaded onto the delivery lorries.
There really is no feeling like seeing your work mass-produced. That said, seeing thousands of my packaging box design, all lined up on the factory floor was something new, even for me. My work on this project was rather exhaustive – the client came to me with nothing and from my initial meeting with the client, I had established a brand direction, the thematic core of the customer relationship and the beginnings of a logo. Taking inspiration from premium Italian food brands, my work extended from the logo design and website design through to instruction manuals for the ovens themselves, carton print design and branding fliers / advertising.
